Crisis to Calm: 2026!

We’re excited to share that the project has been awarded an Intervention Grant from Healthway, building on the work that began in 2022 when the project was first conceived.

Thanks to the dedication of the Crisis to Calm research team, the project will continue to scale up and pilot the co-designed program developed in collaboration with our six incredible youth co-researchers.

The program was commended by Preventive Health Minister Hon. Sabine Winton and Mental Health Minister Hon. Meredith. You can a couple of articles announcing the program at the links below.

ADRC Conference

Crisis to Calm was featured at the ADRC Conference in a powerful panel discussion led by three members of our youth co-researcher team, highlighting the urgent need for co-design with young people in the disaster resilience space. The panel explored how youth-led approaches can better reflect the lived experiences, cultures, and evolving needs of young people, especially in high-risk communities.

Curtin enAble: Big Issues

Crisis to Calm was showcased at Curtin University's enAble Big Issues event in a panel discussion exploring the intersection of climate change and youth mental health. Two of our youth co-researchers presented alongside academic and industry affiliates including Dr Lisa Gibbs from the University of Melbourne, Dr Mara West from The Kids Research Institute and Liz Addison from the WA Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

We were proud to officially launch Crisis to Calm at a dynamic event that brought together sector partners, researchers, and youth co-researchers to shape the future of disaster resilience for young people. The day featured interactive workshops to further refine the project and a series of powerful presentations, highlighting the importance of youth-led design in creating meaningful, culturally responsive mental health and preparedness initiatives
